Ohio County Animal Shelter volunteer Tina Thompson, left, judge-executive David Johnston, center-left, animal shelter administrator Gloria Tichenor, center-right, and animal control officer Josh Wright officially broke ground on the new Ohio County Animal Shelter on Friday. The new facility is expected to be completed in the Fall.
On Friday morning there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ohio County Animal Shelter at its new location of 1802 Country Club Road. The event drew many county officials and saw the hard work of Animal Control Officer Josh Wright and his staff come to reality. Wright spoke of the time that was put into this project and thanked the current fiscal court for their support as well as, State Representative Tommy Thompson.
The land that the new animal shelter will be built on has a fenced in area that can be used to let animals run and play outside.
There is also a barn on the property that will come in handy for any calls that involve horses. Wright says that this animal shelter will be one that the county can be proud to show off and hopes to have schools plan field trips to visit.
The construction of the new animal shelter is expected to be finished in the Fall.
