Modern Woodmen recognizes ‘Hometown Heroes’ with awards

Local volunteer firefighters were recognized as Hometown Heroes by Modern Woodmen at two ceremonies last week at Dairy Queen in Beaver Dam.

Modern Woodmen representative Travis Camp recognized each firefighter with a plaque and Modern Woodmen made donations in the amount of $100 to each firefighters favorite charity on their behalf.

Nearly 200 people attended each night of the awards.

Those firefighters that received awards on Monday, July 8: Chief Jeff Scott, 405 Rockport Volunteer Fire Department (VFD); Mark Shields, 229 Beaver Dam VFD; Charlie Lacefield, 312 Rosine VFD and Nikki Norton, 858 Cromwell VFD.

Fordsville VFD Chief Justin Cooper helped to recognize the firefighters on Tuesday, July 9, they were: Danny Wilson, 125 Hartford VFD; Chief Danny Pogue, 708 Dundee VFD and Wendell Howard, 900 Centertown VFD.
