JonelleHutchensJonelle McDaniel Hutchens, 78, of Owensboro died June 24, 2014 at Heartford House. She was born in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Ivan and Thelma (Ford) McDaniel.

Jonelle was a graduate of Transylvania University and a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a career elementary school teacher who taught in both the Pike County and Daviess County School Systems. She retired from Burns Elementary in 1990 after teaching third grade a combined total of 35 years. After retirement she continued to work with children and volunteered at Seven Hills Elementary for a few years. Jonelle was dedicated to her family and always enjoyed the time spent together. She had wonderful friends and was involved for 30 years with the same Bunco group.

Jonelle was a member of Third Baptist Church and was very active as the leader of the senior group at her church and was a substitute Sunday School teacher for the Ester Class.

She was a strong, caring, independent person and was admired by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. “Hutch” Hutchens in 1995 and her parents.

Jonelle is survived by her daughter, Kim (Ron) Bryson; grandson, Ronnie (Amber) Bryson; and great-grandson, Riley James Bryson, all of Louisville; brother, Don (Pat) McDaniel; sister, Wanda (Bill) Francisco, both of Owensboro; four nephews, Michael (Lisa) Damron, Jeff Francisco, both of Zephyrhills, Fla., Mark (Rebecca) McDaniel, of Lexington, and Brian (Laurita Kim) McDaniel, of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
