LawrenceSorrelsLawrence “Baby Doll” Sorrels, 74 of Beaver Dam, Ky., formerly of Rochester, Ky., passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Lawrence was born on Monday March 25, 1940 in Muhlenberg County, Ky., to the late Wilbur and Dovie Brown Sorrels.

He was a member of Rochester Missionary Baptist Church, retired from P&M Coal Co. as an underground coal miner, member of the Coal UMWA and worked at the Rochester Water Department until its closing.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Louis Sorrels.

Lawrence “Baby Doll” Sorrels is survived by his wife, Mary Sorrels, of Beaver Dam; two sons, Mark Sorrels, of Quality, Ky., and Timothy Sorrels, of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Rebecca Hoffman husband Joe, of Morgantown, Ky.; three granddaughters, Danielle, Faith and Olivia Sorrels, all of Morgantown; five grandsons, Zander Sorrels, of Morgantown, Bryson Sorrels, of Morgantown, Dakota Smith, of Morgantown, Ray Smith, of Morgantown, and Corbin Hoffman, of Morgantown; two sisters, Marilyn Sorrels, of Morgantown, and Onene Baize husband Bud, of Centertown, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, July 3, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, July 3, from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
