JimmyCarlHelmJimmy Carl Helm, 64, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 14, 1949, in Ohio Co. to the late Carl and Alice McKinley Helm.

Jimmy retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #20 and was currently working as a designer at Welborn Floral Co.. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Jimmy was a member and deacon at Century Christian Church and was currently attending Christ Community Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696. Jimmy enjoyed riding and spending time with his horses at the Cripple Hill Farm in Whitesville. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, was an avid UK Basketball fan and loved dancing and music. Jimmy enjoyed flower gardening, landscaping, working in the yard, and decorating for the holidays. He enjoyed people and was a person who never met a stranger. Jimmy was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Helm Huff on April 28, 2006.Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Katherine Helm; a son, Stephen Garrett Helm and fiancé Jennifer Norris of Owensboro; a daughter, Mackenzie Leigh (David) Miller of Lexington; four sisters, Alpha Carter, Betty Baughn, and Deanie (Bob) Cook, all of Owensboro, and Becky (Neal) Benningfield of Whitesville; two brothers, Bobby (Linda) Helm of Hartford, and Tommy (Lavonne) Helm of Whitesville; five grandchildren; Trevor Helm, Tatum Helm, and Savannah Helm of Owensboro, and Zoe Miller and Camden Miller of Lexington, and a great-grandchild, Collin Helm, of Owensboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 1530 McJohnson Ave, Owensboro Ky. 42303.
