RebeccaHudsonMcCaslinRebecca “Becky” Hudson McCaslin, 59, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born July 22, 1954, in Hartford, Ky., she is survived by her parents, Victor Carroll and Mary “Mimi” Jewell Hudson.

During her freshman year at Kentucky Wesleyan College, she met the love of her life, Charles Edward McCaslin, married in 1974, and celebrated 39 years in each other’s arms.

A devoted mother, full of love and support, is survived by two children as well; Jason Matthew McCaslin, married to Anna Whaley McCaslin, residing in Helena, Ala., and Lyndsay Hudson McCaslin-Sterett, married to Terry Alan Sterett, Jr., residing in New Port Richey, Fla.

Working as a phlebotomist for years, then, moving to a front office position, Becky had the opportunity to retire from Lab Corporation in 1996.

Miss Becky always had a flair for fashion, entertaining, and especially décor.

Previously a Beauti Control Consultant, and a personal shopper for those wanting to make a statement, Becky had the ability to help an individual “dress to impress”. This experience allowed her to make each person she came in contact with feel unique and special.

Always taking pride in her home, the McCaslin residence on the Ohio River was featured in an interior design spotlight spread in the Messenger Inquirer as “Serenity on the River Bend” in 2008. With a niche for architectural vision, her Victorian Home on Allen Street, a true love, was always a work in progress, while a total renovation of a condominium in New Port Richey, Fla., also incorporated her own class, sophistication, and style.

She brought smiles to the faces of her two surviving grandchildren Hudson Andrew and Hayden Matthew McCaslin, and will be missed by many surviving family members to include three sisters and a brother: Ed and Judy Hudson McCrackin of Owensboro, Ky.; David and Debbie Hudson Shelton of New Port Richey, FL; Alex and Vicki Hudson Simms of Princeton, Ky.; Ronnie and the late Jan Towery of Owensboro, Ky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society, 2008 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, Tenn., 37203 (615-342-0840) or to the Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, Ky. 42301 (270-926-7565).

A memorial service honoring the late Rebecca “Becky” Hudson McCaslin will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at New Life Church, 400 Crabtree Avenue, Owensboro. This is the venue where Becky Hudson and Chuck McCaslin endeared their vows and committed their lives to each other on March 10, 1974. Extended family and close friends are invited to come and share fond memories.
