BroBillyMorrisBro. Billy Morris, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Ill. He was born on Feb. 19, 1935, in Daviess County, to the late Charles Golden and Margaret Fulkerson Morris.

Billy was a retired Southern Baptist minister having pastored in many different churches in Kentucky for over 35 years. He was a member of the Deanfield Baptist Church in Ohio County and was a U. S. Army veteran. Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and loved his rabbit dogs. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Morris, on May 4, 1988.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, June Murphy Morris; three sons, Brent and wife, Stacy Morris, Tony and wife, Sharon Morris, and Darren Morris, all of Owensboro; two daughters, Kathy and husband, Jeff Stewart, of Finlay, Ohio, and Karen and husband, David Gish, of Henderson; 12 grandchildren, Krystal (Sean) Jacondino, of Paducah, Kara Fulkerson, of Lexington, Keisha (Jason) Harris, of Corydon, Ind., Nathaniel (Christina) Morris, of Knoxville, Tenn., Natalie (James) Payne, of Owensboro, Hannah (Reuben) Payne, of Owensboro, Sheridan (Heath) Fulkerson, of Knottsville, Brandon Morris, of Owensboro, Benjamin (Jetieme) Morris, of Collinsville, Ill., and Daniel Gish and Elaina Gish, both of Henderson; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby (Barbara) Morris and Jerry Morris, all of Owensboro; and two sisters, Shirley (Larry) Hamer, of Florida, and Thelma (Gene) Daugherty, of Owensboro.

Services will be 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
