AlbertaDNewcomAlberta D. Newcom, 78, of Hartford, Ky., was called home Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at the residence of her daughter in Hixson, Tenn. She was born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late John M. Mattos and Pearl E. Meinzer Mattos.

Mrs. Newcom retired from Professional Care Health and Rehab in Hartford, Ky., where she was a Nurses Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Edwin Newcom, on Jan. 12, 2007, and three brothers, Jack Mattos, John Mattos and Joe Mattos.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Dean “Kenny” Newcom (Susie), of Beaver Dam, Ky.; two daughters, Patricia Ann “Tricia” Burdin (Barry), of Beaver Dam, and Janet Lee Higgins (Stephen), of Hixson, Tenn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Mattos, of Timberlakes, N.C., Rick Mattos, of Lutz, Fla., and Tom Mattos, of Taffy, Ky., and one sister, Gloria Maletta, of Port Richey, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with Rev. Jean Kalombo and Bro. Mikey Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
