Alva ‘Junior’ Farmer

AlvaFarmerAlva “Junior” Farmer, 83, of Fordsville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on July 27, 1931, in Deanfield to the late Alvis and Clara Myrtle Farmer.

He was an Army veteran and retired from Local 150 Midwest Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Fordsville United Methodist Church and past Master of Masonic Temple 613, Whiting, Indiana and Fordsville Masonic Lodge #600. He enjoyed helping the less fortunate, spending time with friends and family, NASCAR and crossword puzzles.

Junior was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie “Bus” Farmer; and sisters, Beatrice Szafran, Mary Edith Midkiff, Phyllis McKinney and Janis Keaton.

Survivors include his life companion, Wilda D. Hardesty, of Fordsville; two daughters, Pam (Eddie) Morris, of Philpot, and Donna Farmer, of Fordsville; two grandsons, Michael Farmer and George (LaPorsha) Farmer, both of Fordsville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Farmer, of Owensboro and Gina Farmer (Brian Mitchell), of Hartford; four great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Taygan, Jase and Tessa; a sister, Barbara (Paul) Ellis, of Rockville, Ind.; additional family members, Keith (Jessica) Wallace, Amber, Ashlee, Kelsea and Kartson, of Lexington, and Shelia (Josh) Dobelstein, Lydia and Morgan, of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Fordsville Cemetery with military honors by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
