To the residents of Ohio County, my name is Joe Barnes, a Democratic candidate for magistrate of Ohio County’s Third District. I have been trying to visit everyone in the Third District, and if I haven’t had the pleasure and opportunity of meeting you yet, I would like to introduce myself and my family to you.
I am a 2001 graduate of Ohio County High School and have obtained Associates of Arts and Applied Science degrees from Owensboro Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography with an emphasis in GIS and a minor in Surveying from Western Kentucky University. I live on Chiggerville Lane with my wife, Carrie, an employee at the Ohio County Hospital, and our daughter Chloe, a first grader at Western Elementary.
I have worked in the career of surveying and engineering for the past 10 years, during which I was employed by Biggerstaff and Ward in Hartford, Associated Engineers in Madisonville and currently work for Armstrong Coal in the engineering department.
I feel that my background in engineering and surveying gives me the experience and knowledge that I can rely on for county road issues, as well as other county concerns.
I have been attending the Ohio County Fiscal Court meetings, along with city and fire department meetings for each of the communities in the Third District, to show my support and interest. I feel it is important to be involved and aware of their needs, and will continue these actions if elected.
If given the opportunity, I will be proud to serve and represent the people of the Third District and Ohio County. I would appreciate your vote on Nov. 4.
