JamesEMinorJames E. Minor, 89, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Professional Care Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hartford. He was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Winslow, Ind., to the late Pearl Joseph Minor and Edna Mellott Minor.

Mr. Minor retired from Peabody Coal Company, Gibraltar Coal Mine as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the UMWA, Local #1092 and a member of Hartford Christian Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

He was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and one great-grandson.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Grace Tinsley Minor, of Hartford; one son, James R. “Jim” Minor (Barbara), of Hartford; one daughter, Edna May Nantz (Phillip), of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Joey Minor (Tammy), David Minor (Athena), Natalie Howard (Jason); several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Mikey Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Ohio County, Ky.
