Lena M. Goatley, 86, of Owensboro, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born May 29, 1928 in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Henry and Mary Renfrow.
She was a member of No Creek United Methodist Church and a life member of the American Legion. She enjoyed babysitting and felt the kids in her care were like her own.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Otis W. Goatley on August 8, 1990; her first husband, Robert Apman; sisters, Dorothy Howard and Margie Wallace; and brothers, Bill, Lewis, Leslie, Larry, Charles and Tudor.
Survivors include her daughter, Lena Byers (Tim) of Owensboro; grandchildren, William T. Byers, II, (Stacy), of Owensboro and Tina Evers (Jeff), of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Kylee Caldwell (Brian), Paige Evers and Bailey Evers; great-great grandchildren, Jaden and Riley; a niece who was like a granddaughter, Jeanie Renfrow; and brothers, Jimmy Renfrow, and W.C. Renfrow.
Services are 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Cloverport Cemetery in Cloverport, Ky.. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
