Theresa Mae Axley Norris, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Raymond and Lillian Phillips Axley.

She was a loving and dedicated homemaker and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. Theresa and her husband were one of the original founding members of the Daviess County Fish and Game Farm. She had volunteered at several of the local nursing homes and had cared for her mother-in-law for a number of years. She enjoyed the outdoors, cooking for her family, working puzzles, and making afghans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” William Norris, on May 19, 2014; a daughter, Cathy Darlene Norris; a sister, Avis Robey; and a brother, Charles Axley.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Thompson and husband Bill, and Connie Henry and husband Jerry, all of Owensboro; a son, David Norris and wife Cheryl, of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Crowe, Phillip Henry, Jo Lynn (Chris) Embry, Nancy Henry, Robert Norris, and April (Harrison) Mitchell; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Don (Norma) Axley, of Owensboro, Art Axley, of Tennessee, David (Ima) Axley, of Owensboro, and Michael (Gay) Axley, of Owensboro; a sister, Anna Highsmith, of Owensboro, a sister-in-law, Pat Axley of Hammond, Ind., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
