CarrollQuisenberryCarroll D. Quisenberry, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born April 15, 1940, in Ohio Co., Ky., to the late Porter and Christine Shrader Quisenberry.

Carroll was a member of Christ Community Church and had been an over the road truck driver for Averitt Express, Inc., before retiring. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Air Force and was a member of the 40 and 8 and the American Legion. He had received several medals and commendations and was the first to receive the General Itchner Award for “Best Unit In the U. S. Army”. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Carroll was also preceded in death by a nephew, Christopher Quisenberry on May 10, 2013.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Sharon Adelmann Quisenberry; three daughters, Buffy Bittel and husband, Craig, of Owensboro; Stephanie Winklepleck and husband, David, of Owensboro, and Vicki Smith and husband, Larry, of Hodgenville, Ky.; six grandchildren, Brian, Tyler, and Kelsey Winklepleck, Matthew and Dustin Smith, and Travis Bittel; two brothers, Mike Quisenberry, of Owensboro, and Ronnie (Peggy) Quisenberry, of Owensboro; and a sister, Brenda (Richard) VanZant, of Evansville, Ind., and his lovable dog, Pee Wee.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Axton Cemetery in Ohio Co. A Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at Christ Community Church with Myke Templeton officiating.
