ElizabethGreenElizabeth “Liz” Green, 90, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Signature Healthcare Center—Hillcrest. She was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Jess and Eunice Pollard Slack.

She had been a cook for a number of years at Sorgho Elementary School and also at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital from which she retired. Liz was a member of Sorgho Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially baking bread for Reid’s Orchards Roadside stand on Highway 81. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Leo Green, in 1980; a son, Glenn Green; and a daughter, Dorothy Dunn.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruby Green, of Owensboro; a son, Wayne Green and wife, Betty, of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica) Green, Melanie (Logan) Beyke, Charlie (Keyna) Dunn, Robert Dunn, B.J. (Crystal) Dunn, and Chris (Tonya) Green, all of Owensboro, several great-grandchildren; a sister, Nannette (Rip) Mattingly, of Fordsville; and a brother, Jesse Slack, of Owensboro.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Sorgho Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
