LayverneDrakeLayverne C. Drake, 81, of Beaver Dam, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015. He was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Ohio County to the late James Oscar and Vera M. Drake.

He was a United States Army Veteran and was avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. Layverne was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and he worked as a contractor.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice F. Drake; and two brothers, Sharrell R. Drake and Thurman D. Drake.

Survivors include his children, Kurt (Debbie) Reesman, of Virginia, Ricky Drake, of Louisville, Liz (Dale) Westerfield, of Beaver Dam, and Kim (David) Trosper, of LaGrange; two brothers, Pee Wee (Pat) Drake, of Cromwell, and Jay (Janice) Drake, of Cromwell; one sister-in-law, Celia Drake, of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy) Gordon, Emily (Micah) Brake, Bailey (Jordan) Phelps, Blake Drake, Brendan Westerfield and Spencer Drake; and two great-grandchildren, Austen Drake and Savannah Gordon.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Wesley Phelps Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family from 10 A.M. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to Ohio County Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
