StanleyRexGossettStanley Rex Gossett, 70, of Hartford, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 8, 1944, in Masonville, Ky., to the late Hubert Millard Gossett and Ruth Martine Smith Gossett.

Rex retired from Century Aluminum as Maintenance Supervisor and was formerly employed by American Tobacco Company, was a member of Clear Run Baptist Church, Ohio County Historical Society, Henderson County Master Gardener’s Association and co-chairman of the Ohio County Republican Party. He attended flight school and earned his private pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying, beekeeping, antique tractors and heavy equipment, having the ability to fix anything. He and his wife, Betsy, were proud of traveling to all fifty states, taking their children and grandchildren on many of the trips. They completed their journey in 2013 when they drove their RV on a 9,500 mile, month-long trip to Alaska.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Betsy Ross Williams Gossett, of Hartford; two sons, Carl Gossett, of Hartford, and Chris Phelps, of Hartford; one daughter, Shannon Gossett Hutton (Wes), of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Isaac, Samantha, Martina and Rebecca Gossett, Jeri-Lynn Hutton, Tabitha and Nakota Taylor; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clayton and Mary Lou Ralph, of Beaver Dam, and special friends, Joe and Arlayne Moseley, of Hartford.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Byron Priar and Bro. Gary Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Run Cemetery in Ohio County, Ky. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Friday at the funeral home.
