CliftonYoungSrClifton V. “Doodie” Young, Sr., 79, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1935, in Lewisport, Ky., to the late William Edward and Mary Payne Young.

He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, William Matthew Young, Thomas Lewis Young, Charles Edward Young and James Dennis Young; and a brother-in law, Edward H. Aull.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Wanda A. Young; two sons, Clifton V. (Lynda) Young, Jr., of Owensboro, Brian A. (Laurie) Young of Spencer, Ind.; one daughter, Vickie A. (Todd) Maden, of Utica; seven grandchildren, Cory S. Young, Colton J. Young, Kelsey A. Nicely, Kasey A. (Sam) Sutton, Robert “TJ” Maden., Jr., Derah Elianna Young and Judah A. Young; two great-grandchildren, Camden W. and Kenley A. Nicely; one brother, Joe Young, of Utica; four sisters, Dorothy (Narl) Drury, of Utica, Mary Aull, of Owensboro, Theresa (Bobby) Barnett, of Owensboro, Rosemary (Tom) Foster, of Owensboro; beloved mother-in-law, Mary Delphine Payne; and a sister-in-law, Mary A. Young, of Abita Spring, La.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. William Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
