ChesterCoburnMr. Chester M. Coburn, 78, passed away on June 24, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, he was born on April 3, 1937, in Knott County, Ky., to the late Chester and Mary Jane (Hall) Coburn.

Chester was a retired state police detective for the State of Kentucky, loved fishing with his brothers, gardening, UK Basketball, tinkering with lawn mowers, but mostly loved spoiling his grandchildren, he also enjoyed family time. He was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Earl Coburn.

He leaves behind his wife, Dortha “Dot” (Butler) Coburn; son, James Douglas (Toni) Coburn; daughter, Kimberly Lynn Danks (Choy Burcham); sons, David Morris Coburn, Robert Clayton Coburn (Kelly Castell), Daniel Ray (Jeanette) Goodwin; daughter, Julia Ann (Wayne) Cecil, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Edgar Gene (Peggy) Coburn, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastors Glen Armstrong and Pastor David Preston officiating, visitation will be Friday, June 26, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and also after 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will take place in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations will be to the Gideon’s.
